| According to Hooper and Whyld this was a formal match and they give the result as +4-1=2 for Showalter, rather than +4-2=1 as given by Feenstra Kuiper, Di Felice, and Davies. Davies says that this and the previous match between Showalter and Janowsky were played in March and April 1899. I am supposing that this one took place in April, though it may have started in March. |
