   | Hilbert (Writings in Chess History, p.50) quotes the Montreal Daily Witness which says that at odds of Pawn and Two Moves, Zukertort beat Ascher with a score of +2-1=1 on 14 Feb. 1884. Hilbert (p.54) also quotes Zukertort himself from a letter written in Apr. 1884, in which Zukertort says that at Pawn and Two Moves he beat Ascher with a score of +2-1=2. I take these two reports to mean that Ascher scored +2-1=1 on 14 Feb. but that the other draw was played at another point during Zukertort's visit to Montreal. | | | |
