| Notes: |
| Scores are very inconsistent ranging from 6-0 for Zytogorski to 3-0 for Staunton. Brien, in the Chess Player's Chronicle (1855, p.399) claimed Zytogorski had won 6 and lost none, and that the year was 1843, but Umiatowski and Lissowski, citing Keene and Coles, claim that Brien was unreliable, that the match was in 1841, and that the score could not have been 6-0 for Zytogorski, since the survinging games are 2-1 for Staunton as well as a draw. I have taken these last as a minimal set and a reasonable guess at the outcome. |
