| Forster gives this result from the Liverpool 'club books'. It was played during the winter of the 1883-1884 season, and Forster (p.185) gives the last (8th) game, dated 7 Feb. 1884. He also gives two earlier games, possibly part of the match, dated 9 and 10 Jan. 1884. I will therefore guess that it began in Jan. 1884. Forster suggests that 'the match was probably not too serioius an affair'. |
