Name: Café de la Régence Annual Handicap - Final
Place: Paris
Start date: 1888
End date: Apr. 1888

Notes:
Partial results available. Although not clearly explained by the excerpts from La Stratégie given by Cornil, if it followed the format of previous annual handicap tournaments, the final was a 12 player, single-round all-play-all tournament, following the elimination (knockout) rounds. The top 5 total scores are given, but we can only use those for Taubenhaus and Clerc since they were both class 1 and without knowing the odds given amongst all the players, we can't use the scores of the others for comparison. Schumann (class 4) came 2nd with 9.5/11; Pasquier (class 2) and Denouroy (class 3) came equal 4th with 8/11. Dates are not given, but the results of the final are given in the Apr. 15 issue of La Stratégie, so I am guessing that it finished in April.
