   | Adams does not give the number of players in this tournament, but the scores given make it very likely that it was a 13-player single-round all-play-all, like the winter tournament of the Budapest Club played a few months before. It is just possible that there were only 12 players, but then the average score of the lower 6 would have to have been 2.5. It seems much more likely that there were 13 players, in which case the average score of the bottom 7 was 4.5. Adams elsewhere confuses N. Hajos and J. Gajdos, so there is a possibility that he has the wrong player as the winner of this event, though I have no more definite evidence of that, and it may well be correct. |
