| Notes: |
| Yanofsky has 'T. Taylor' at this event, while Di Felice has 'G.H. Taylor'. I assume it is Thomas Taylor, who also played at Toronto 1898 according to notes I have from David Cohen, and who played in a correspondence tournament from 1891 to 1894 according to Reichhelm (Chess in Philadelphia, p.56). Yanofsky also has 'T. Taylor' at Montreal 1891. Di Felice has 'MacLeod, Nicholas Menelaus' at this event; Yanofsky has 'R. Macleod'; David Cohn has 'William D.R. MacLeod'. Gaige and the Quebec Morning Chronicle of 30 Jan. 1890 (p.4) has the second MacLeod - Champion game scored as '0?' for both players; Di Felice gives it as a win for Champion. I have adopted Di Felice's version, which is consistent with the totals given in the Quebec Morning Chronicle. |
