Event table notes

Event data
Name: 7th British Amateur Championship - Section IV
Place: Hastings
Start date: 19 Aug. 1895
End date: 24 Aug. 1895

Notes:
Gaige has 'W. Cohn' at this event; Di Felice has 'Cohn, Wilhelm'; Sergeant has 'the Berlin player, Erich Cohn' and the Sept. 1895 issue of the British Chess Magazine (reproduced in Sarah's blog entry) has 'E Cohn'. According to Winter (Chess Note 8132), the crosstable in the same issue of the British Chess Magazine has 'Herr W. Cohn', but there are other sources with 'E. Cohn' or 'Dr. E. Cohn', including Schallopp's book on the tournament. However, Winter also gives convincing evidence from German sources (including an obituary of Wilhelm Cohn) that Wilhelm Cohn was the player at Hastings.
