| Hooper and Whyld and Utterberg both give 1825 as the year. Murray, however, gives 1823 as do Golombek, Di Felice, La Grande Storia degli Scacchi, Sarah and Le Palamède (1836, p.226). Walker, in Bell's Life in London (15 Feb. 1835, p.2) says the match took place 'ten years back'. The 13 Dec. 1840 issue (p.4) says it took place 'about 1823'. |
