| Donaldson says in his reminiscences that this offhand game (a draw) was played the week before he went to Brighton and played Harrwitz. That was during the Harrwitz-Horwitz match, i.e., Feb. to early Mar. 1849, so I guess that the game with Evans took place in Feb. 1849. |
