| This result is given in the June 1849 issue of La Régence (v.1, p.170), where it is stated that Stern had just returned from an eight month trip during which he played the best players in Saint Petersburg and Warsaw, including just two games against Petrov, which he lost. So they took place between the autumn of 1848 and June 1849. Petrov may have still been living in Warsaw at the time, so I am guessing that these games took place there. |
