| The result +4-3=2 for Harrwitz given by the Sunday Times of 23 Oct. 1859 is a partial result, since the Chess Player's Chronicle of Dec. 1859 (p.353) says that the match only finished 'a few days ago'. The Era of 20 Nov. 1859 (p.5) has +5-3=1 for Harrwitz, but this is corrected in the 27 Nov. 1859 issue (p.13), where the final result is given as +5-3=5 for Harrwitz. The New York Clipper of 10 Dec. 1859 gives 4-3 for Harrwitz, then the 24 Dec. 1859 issue gives +5-3=1 for Harrwitz, but these do not mention the odds. CN 10065 gives +5-3=2 for Harrwitz. |
