Event data
Place: Breslau
Start date: 1851
End date: Nov. 1851

Notes:
This result comes from a note to a correspondent in The Chess Player (29 Nov. 1851, v.1, p.160), indicating that the match was still in progress. The result we have is a partial result therefore. Hooper and Whyld, and Spinrad cite The Chess Player. The Chess Player gives the location only as Germany; Giffen gives Breslau. Frank Leslie's Illustrated Newspaper of 15 Nov. 1856 suggests that the match was called off at this point.
