| Notes: |
| As given by Di Felice. The Chess Player's Chronicle (Oct. 1851, pp.289-292) gives 3 games with the same result (+2-1 for Shumov) 'lately played', and gives the location as Saint Petersburg. Two of these games also appear in the Illustrated London News (13 Sept. 1851, p.331). I guess that these correspond to Di Felice's 'match', though I do not know whether they consituted a formal match or just represent the result of the published games. |
