| The Brooklyn Chess Chronicle of 15 Oct. 1886 (p.6) gives a result to date of an 8th match (for the first to win 5 games) between Vazquez and Golmayo (3-1 for Vazquez), 'now in progress'. The 15 Dec. issue says that Golmayo eventually won the match. I will therefore guess that it finished 5-4 for Golmayo, though it might have been 5-3, and there might have been draws. I will guess that it ended in Nov. 1886. Golmayo also won a 9th match but no score is given for that one. |
