| Notes: |
| The Deutsche Schachzeitung (edited by Hirschbach) has 'O. W....d' and 'Gr. V.', who are pretty clearly Otto Wigand and Graf Vitzthum. The match was to be out of 7 games, but if I read the report correctly, it says that Wigand ended up one game ahead, that Vitzthum won 3, that one game was drawn, and that Wigand finished with 3 wins in a row. It assume an extra game was needed because the result was tied after 7 games. The report is in the first issue of the Deutsche Schachzeitung in 1847, so I am guessing that this match took place late in 1846. |
