| Spinrad says that Ware lost 2 games at Knight odds to Morphy in 1859. Thomas Frère, in a speech given in 1884 (see Hillyer, p.167), says that after Morphy's return from Europe Ware lost 4 straight games to him at Knight odds. This is confirmed by the Chess Monthly of Nov. 1859 (p.356). |
