Notes: |
Di Felice gives date as July 1867; the Illustrated London News reported the result in the 21 Sept. 1867 issue, saying it was played after the Paris Congress, which ended 11 July 1867. Kingston and Russell stated that there was a second match between them that same year with result +2-0=2 for Winawer, but no contemporary sources mention this (according to Hans Renette, and I have found none either), so I will guess that it is spurious. |
