| Notes: |
| Reichhelm's book said that Elson gave Knight odds. The Philadelphia Daily Evening Bulletin of 1 Jul. 1870 says that half the games were to be played even and half at Knight odds (given by Elson). The issue of 8 Jul. 1870 says that the even games were discontinued at Maurice's request and gives a result to date for the Knight odds games as +4-2=1 for Elson. The final result of the Knight odds games is given in the 5 Aug. 1870 issue. I will guess that it finished in July, but it might have gone into the first few days of August. |
