| The result (+5-4=1 for Golmayo) of this first match (of 1886) between Golmayo and Vazquez is reported in El Sport of 26 Aug. 1886 (p.2). The result is given as +5-4 for Golmayo in the 12 Aug. 1886 issue (p.3), but I presume the later report is correct. The combined result of the first 4 matches between them is given as +18-15=2 for Golmayo in the Brooklyn Chess Chronicle of 15 Sep. 1886 (p.181) and the British Chess Magazine of Oct. 1886 (p.395), but the total of the 4 matches given in El Sport comes to +17-14=2 for Golmayo. |
