I will guess that the Goodyear who played for Sheffield and District against Huddersfield and Holmfirth in 1885 was the Goodyear of Rotherham who played for the 'Rest of Sheffield and District Chess Association' against the Sheffield Athenaeum Club in 1883. The former might also have been 'A. Goodyear' or 'J. Goodyear' of Barnsley.
