| This was a 14-player, double-round all-play-all tournament. Feenstra Kuiper (in Hundert Jahre Schachzweikämpfe) and Di Felice give only total scores for each player. La Grande Storia degli Scacchi fills in a handful of crosstable entries as well as giving total scores. The Schachzeitung of Nov. 1870 also gives a few of the results of individual encounters, but otherwise just total scores. The Schachzeitung also says that Wewerka forfeited 6 games (2 against each of von Helms, Leyer, and von Kuenberg) and Braune forfeited 2 against Jungbauer. Nevertheless, the official scores given add to 181, whereas if all games were accounted for the total would be 182, so one game was not played or someone's score is one point short. I will (rather arbitrarily) assume that one of the games between von Kuenberg and von Steindl is unaccounted for (these are the two lowest rated after the forfeited games are removed), but if this is wrong a slight error in ratings will result. |
