| The first two rounds were played on 23 Jan. 1886; the third was played on 5 June 1886. Quarkowsky had a bye in the second round. The draw in the second round between Guy and A. Priestman was to be played off, according to the Leeds Mercury of 20 Feb. 1886 (p.7), and the issue of 15 May 1886 (p.7) indicates that it had yet to be decided. Guy eventually proceeded to the third round, but I have not found a report indicating how this was decided. Similarly, I have not found a report of how the third round draw between Moorhouse and Quarkowsky was decided, but the report in the Leeds Mercury of 31 July 1886 (p.7) makes it clear that Quarkowsky proceeded to the final, which was played on 24 July 1886. This final game appeared in the 28 Aug. 1886 issue of the Leeds Mercury (p.7). |
