Event table notes

Event data
Name: Leeds - Huddersfield Club Tournament, Section 4
Place: Huddersfield
Start date: 3 June 1857
End date: 3 June 1857

Notes:
The three Leeds players each played each of the three Huddersfield players. Steve Mann gives the results from a report in the Leeds Mercury. He tentatively identifies the player named 'Andres' as 'J. Andrew', though from other sources (including the Illustrated London News, 20 Jun. 1857, p.616), I think it was 'J. Andrews'. He also tentatively identifies the player named 'Mr. E.' as John Eastwood, though there was also a Rev. A. Easther in a list of Huddersfield players in the 16 May 1857 issue of the Illustrated London News (p.472). Eastwood seems more likely, given his frequent subsequent appearances. Could the 'Gardiner' playing for Leeds possibly be 'Lot Gardiner', who played for Halifax in the early 1850s?
