| This was intended as a 12-player handicap tournament with players in 4 classes. All the players and classes are listed in the report in the Chess Player's Magazine of Oct. 1864 (p.290) and in the Era of 11 Sep. 1864 (p.5), but only the result of one game is given, that between H. Vines and Isaacs. Burt's history of the Bristol Club says that the handicap 'was not concluded that week'. It is not clear which if any other games were played, or whether it was finally completed after the week of the meeting. |
