| The scores given in the Oamaru Mail of 7 Jan. 1896 (p.3) total to 90.5 instead of 91, as they should for a full 14-player single-round all-play-all tournament. It is not clear who the missing half point belongs to. I will guess (rather arbitrarily) that Remington's score was 2.5 instead of 2 as recorded. If this is wrong, a small error will result. Barnes left before his play-off for third with Hookham, so Hookham was awarded third prize. |
