Place: Montreal
Start date: 28 Dec. 1882
End date: 31 Jan. 1883

Notes:
Yanofsky lists only 5 players, but badly garbles both participant names and scores. The main event finished 6 Jan. 1883. Howe and Ascher played a game to break the tie, which was drawn after 3 days' play on 31 Jan. 1883. They were to play another game, but there was a dispute and the second game was never played, the championship title being given to Howe.
