| Halla, at the Karlovarský Šachklub website, gives dates of the Hauptturnier final (Siegergruppe). Di Felice has 'Richter, Berthold' here, and Halla has 'B. Richter, Halle'. The Südwestdeutsche Schachzeitung of 18 Sep. 1887 pp.150-151 has games by 'B. Richter' in this event. The International Chess Magazine of Oct. 1887 (p.311) says that Paul Richter was 'one of the competitors in the Frankfurt Hauptturnier', but this is likely either an error, or he was in an otherwise undocumented minor event at the same Congress. The Südwestdeutsche Schachzeitung p.151 also says that 'Paul Richter in Berlin' found a win in a position in the game Schallopp-Blackburne where Schallopp accepted a draw, but it does not say that Paul Richter was a competitor at Frankfurt. I will guess that it was Bernhard Richter here (not Berthold). |
