| Di Felice has 'Schubert, Oscar' at this event, but it seems much more likely that it was 'Schubert, C.' who played for the Columbia Chess Club in 1888 (see Reichhelm, p.53,157). Dates are uncertain, but the Aug.-Sept. issue of the British Chess Magazine reports that the tournament was in progress, and the Oct. issue gives the winner, so it must have ended between Aug. and Oct. I will take Sept. as a reasonable guess. |
