Start date: 1897 |
End date: Apr. 1897 |

Notes: |
The report in the digitized copy of the New Zealand Herald at Papers Past is not very clear. My reading of the scores suggests a double-round all-play-all of four players, but since Gifford and O'Laughlin seem to have played only 5 games each, I presume that these two did not play their second round game. I am guessing that the tournament ended in Apr. 1897. The fact that the Rangitikei Club is located in Marton is mentioned in the Australian Chess Annual (vol.1, p.112). Thanks to Walter Chan for these references. |
