| Only partial results available. The final between Roberts and Kind had not yet been played at the time the May 1857 issue of the Chess Monthly was written. The New York Clipper of 7 Mar. 1857 indicates that the tournament had been announced and gives the names of 16 entrants, including Worthington, Pelham, Nichols and Kirkpatrick who seem to have been replaced by Frère, Beukendorf, Clark and Muller. Also, Jee's name is given as 'See'. The 11 Apr. 1857 issue of the New York Clipper indicates that there was a draw between Roberts and Knott. I presume the event ended in May 1857. |
