Notes:
The report in the Illustrated London News of 19 Feb. 1876 (p.191) says that the match took place 'on the 2nd ult.', which should mean 2 Jan. 1876. However, the 22 Jan. 1876 issue (p.95) reports that the previous match between these two clubs was played on 'Saturday, Jan. 8'. Since the return match must have taken place after the first match, I presume that 'ult.' here is an error for 'inst.' and that the return match took place on 2 Feb. 1876.
