Notes:
Part of a match in which Potter gave odds alternately of Knight and of Pawn and Two Moves. The report in Land and Water (information from Tim Harding) says that the total score was +7-4=9 for Potter, but that at Pawn and Two Move odds, Heywood won 3 and lost only 1. If the 20 games were evenly split between the two species of odds, we can conclude from this that Potter's score at Pawn and Two Move odds was +1-3=6, and then at Knight odds must have been +6-1=3. It seems strange that Potter did much worse when giving the lesser odds, but the same occurred in their similar 1878 match, and in their match ending in Jan. 1880. Note that in this last case, only 5 of the 12 games were played at Pawn and Two Move odds, while 7 were at Knight odds. So it is not completely certain that the split was even in the 1879 match, though in principal it should be, with the format of alternating the odds between games.
