| Notes: |
| Fuller says in Frank Leslie's Illustrated Newspaper (2 Feb. 1856) that 'soon after' the match won by Schulten, another match was started but that Schulten gave up after Stanley won 3 or 4 games. I record this as +3-0=0 for Stanley, and assume it was played in 1846. Staunton says in the Chess Player's Chronicle (1846, v.7, p.157) that, following the match won by Schulten match, a return match had begun. |
