| Notes: |
| Di Felice gives +5-4 for Kipping; Hindle gives +7-8=1 for Kipping. These were offhand games, not part of the knockout tournament. The tournament took place in Aug. 1857 and in the 22 Aug. 1857 issue of the Illustrated London News (p.195), Staunton indicates that Anderssen had to leave before his match with Staunton could be arranged, so I presume these games with Kipping were played in Aug. 1857. A number of them are given in the Illustrated London News in Sept., Oct. and Nov. 1857 (4 wins each). |
