Edge wrote on 13 Aug. that Owen had consented to the match 'on Tuesday last' so presumably 10 Aug. 1858; he also says that it should be finished 'tomorrow', so 14 Aug. 1858, which is confirmed by Lawson. Frank Leslie's Illustrated Newspaper has a result of +5-0=1 for Morphy; other sources have +5-0=2. |
