| This is a soft result. Walker says in the 13 Dec. 1840 Bell's Life in London that Alexandre gave de la Bourdonnais the Queen when the latter first came to the Café de la Régence 'about the year 1818', but we know it was at least as early as 1816 from statements elsewhere that Wilson played him there in 1815 or 1816. No score is given, but since Alexandre gave him the Queen, presumably they were then close to equal, so I assume a soft result of =1. |
