Biographical data
Name: Alexandre, Aaron
Born: 17 Nov. 1773
Died: 16 Nov. 1850

Notes:
Cornil and La Grande Storia degli Scacchi give year of birth as 1765; Gaige, Hooper and Whyld, Harding, and Sarah's Chess Journal website give year of birth as 1766. Staunton said he was 75 in Dec. 1844 (Chess Player's Chronicle, 1844, vol.5, p.397), which would imply that he was born in 1769 (or Dec. 1768). Staunton says in his obituary for Alexandre in the Dec. 1850 issue of the Chess Player's Chronicle (p.384) that Alexandre had reached the age of 'fourscore years' (80). The obituary in La Régence (1851, vol.3, p.4) says that he was born around 1765 or 1768. Townsend (p.109) gives evidence that he was born 17 Nov. 1773. However, he also gives evidence (p.131) that his burial record (buried 20 Nov. 1850) gives his age as 84, which is consistent with birth about 1766.
