| Feenstra Kuiper and Di Felice give the location of this match as 'Newcastle'. However, the report in the Chess Monthly (June 1885, p.292) says that it took place at the St. George's Chess Club, in London, and gives the end date of 30 May 1885. I have the starting date through an email from Tim Harding from the Illustrated Sporting and Dramatic News. Sergeant also says it took place at the St. George's Club. |
