Notes:
Land and Water (29 Nov. 1884) says he died the previous Saturday (22-11-1884), as does the Nottingham Evening Post of 24 Nov. 1884 (information from Tim Harding). Gaige gives death date as 21-11-1884. Steve Mann suggests that he died very late around midnight on 21-11-1884, so that his death certificate might have said 22-11-1884. Zavatarelli gives a similar assessment (p.143).
