| Notes: |
| I am guessing that the 'Schmidt' who played in the New York Chess Club Tournament of 1886 and for the Columbia Chess Club in 1888 was Joseph Schmidt, who was vice-president of the New York Chess Club in 1885, but the 'Schmidt' in these events could also have been C. Schmidt, a third class player in the New York Turn Verein Chess Club, or Louis Schmidt, who played in the 1890s for the Manhattan Chess Club. |
