| The Chess Player's Chronicle of 1 Feb. 1878 (p.41) has 'Dr. Eaton' at this event. Strangely, the Illustrated London News of 5 Jan. 1878 (p.23) has 'Ensor, jun.' as the seventh player, and the Westminster Papers of 1 Jan. 1878 (p.151) also has 'W. Ensor, junior, of London'. Sergeant seems to have got the year wrong, putting this event on 7 Jan. 1877 instead of 7 Jan. 1878. |
