Place: Barmen
Start date: 13 Oct. 1866
End date: 14 Oct. 1866

Notes:
Only partial results available. This was a six-player tournament (perhaps a double-round all-play-all, but all in 2 days?), in which C. Höing came first, Ed. Hammacher and Ad. Keller tied for second (awarded to Hammacher, since Keller couldn't play the tie-breaker). The other three players were W. Neuhausen, from Ruhrort, Alfred Schlieper and Herm. Riefenstahl, from Elberfeld. Keller, who wrote the report in the Schachzeitung, had only the two games played between himself and Riefenstahl, which I include for rating, since it helps to assess the strength of these players with few other results. The Schachzeitung (1867, pp.8-9) also has a win by Hammacher over von Böckmann, but without having the other game between this pair, we do not include it. Similarly, the Schachzeitung (1867, pp.69-74) has several other games played at the same time, some probably from the tournament, such as Höing-Neuhausen 1-0, Schlieper-Ed. Hammacher 0-1, Ed. Hammacher - Höing 0.5-0.5, and a couple of games of von Böckmann, who does not seem to have been in the tournament. I do not include these, since we don't know the result of the second game in each case.
