| Notes: |
| This was a 13-player single-round all-play-all tournament (16 players entered, but 3 withdrew early). Hilbert (in his book on Shipley) gives the final scores of only 4 players. Curiously, on p.328 he says Young was third with 8 points, but on p.335, he cites Shipley to say that Neill ('B. Milnes') was third with 8.5 points. According to the Philadelphia Inquirer of 20 Mar. 1910, which gives the top 9 scores, 'B. Milnes' was indeed third. Scores for the top 4 are out of 12. The rest of the scores given are out of 11 points except for Sharp's which is out of 10. I will assume that they had unplayed games against the bottom one or two players. A play-off match for first place was not contested until Nov. 1909 to Mar. 1910, so is recorded separately here. One of the other players was W.A. Ruth. |
