Event table notes

Event data
Name: Glowworm Prize Tournament
Place: London
Start date: 24 Nov. 1868
End date: Feb. 1869

Notes:
A 20-player knockout tournament, with a single win needed to win in a round, draws replayed. Gillam gives all known games including some draws. T. Smith 'resigned' (i.e. withdrew) after drawing Blackburne in round 1. Gillam says that MacDonnell beat Mongredien in round 2 'probably by default', so I have not counted this score. Gillam also says that Wisker beat Skipworth in round 2, when Skipworth withdrew. Five players went through to round 3, so Lord had no opponent. Then the final three played each other as a pool.
