Kieseritzky mentions a 'Franklin' of New York in La Régence (1849, v.1, p.44). Could this have been Selim Franklin? The Chess Players' Quarterly Chronicle of Feb. 1869 (vol.1, p.153) lists 'J. Franklin' in the Montgredien Prize event and then mentions 'W. Franklin' in the same event, but these are errors for 'S. Franklin'.
