| Steve Mann gives date of birth as 1806-1807 and date of baptism as 01-02-1807. The Chess Player's Chronicle of Feb. 1843 (p.57) gives 'A. Marsden' as treasurer of the Huddersfield Club. Other references in the 1840s give only 'Marsden' but the 17 May 1846 issue of Bell's Life in London has 'David Marsden' of Huddersfield. I am guessing that these are the same player and that the initial in the 1843 Chess Player's Chronicle was incorrect, but these might have been two different players. The cover of the Jan. 1854 issue of the Chess Player's Chronicle lists a 'Dr. Marsden' as President of the Huddersfield Club, but this is an error for 'D. Marsden'. |
