The Westminster Papers of 1 Apr. 1873 (p.188) has 'J. Walker', but Steven Mann tells me that according to the Halifax Courier, it was 'E.J. Walker'. He is not sure whether the chess player was Edward Johnson Walker (sen.) born 26-05-1817, died 20-05-1880, or Edward Johnson Walker (jun.) born 1847, died 3-12-1942.
