Saunders gives birth date as 12-06-1855. Mann gives birth date as 26-06-1855, citing a note added in the margin of a baptism register. Name given as 'Brook' or 'Brooke' in the Illustrated London News, and 'C.C. Brook' in the issue of 13 Apr. 1878 (p.350); name given as 'C.L. Brook' in the Feb. 1883 issue (p.68) and the Dec. 1884 issue (p.440) of the British Chess Magazine; name given as 'C.L. Brooke' by Sergeant (p.344). Some events listing a Huddersfield player named 'H. Brooke' or even 'Broole' might have been an error for 'C.L. Brook'. I have made this assumption.
