The British Chess Magazine of May 1889 has 'M.E. Hughes-Hughes' playing for the British Chess Club on p.173, but 'W.C. Hughes-Hughes' playing for the British Chess Club on p.177. I have found no other reference to a W.C. Hughes-Hughes, so I will guess that this was a misprint for M.E. Hughes-Hughes, though it is possible that there was actually a W.C. Hughes-Hughes as well. The Chess Monthly of Jan. 1880 (p.130) has 'M.C. Hughes-Hughes', which I also assume is a misprint for M.E. Hughes-Hughes. His first name, 'Montgue', is given in the International Chess Magazine of Sept. 1891.
